Portrait of Marchmont House from the Park, commissioned by Hugo Burge. We had to wait for the enigmatic bronze sculpture, “Epsilon” by leading Scottish abstract sculptor, Keith McCarter, as it anchors the diamond shape composition of RedBlue Marchmont, and the slightly disturbing bronze of the man perilously close to the edge of the roof, looking east towards Europe, by Antony Gormley.
There is a lot of energy in this painting, generated partly by lively colours and partly by orchestrated lines of energy flow. The composition is diamond, anchored at the base by the sculpture in the park, vanishing lines zoom in towards a point directly below Hugo and Finn on the balcony, two red/blue trees hold the sides, and the strong lateral lines of the sky capture the energy thus generated in the sky above the building, no way out!
2019-2020 Storm Skies over Liguria, For Mr. Antony Burgmans, Chairman of the Mauritzhuis Museum, The Hague, The Netherlands. Where the large area of sky invited a new approach to clouds and sky, and the sea is rendered in horizontal long and shorter stripes( to represent waves ) to provide a calm and strong supporting and contrasting area to the tumultuous skies. And yet again a new treatment of the trees, in fresh greens and cobalt blue shadows. And the coloured houses are subtly striped to infuse life and energy into the flat surfaces.
